I bought this unit about a year ago using it as a home theater system. The sound is ok, but after a few month's use the dvd cd door jammed rendering play back inoperable. I mainly use it now as a radio/receiver for another Phillips multi region dvd player connected to my hdtv. It functions ok for that. Another case of form over substance- it looks nice but was a waste of money.
