I bought this to supplement my Bose Acoustimass 16 system.
First, it looks great; its cherry finish accented by the black grill. Its also not just a plane square box. The 12" driver is front firing while a port is vented down to the floor so if you have it on a hard surface, make sure you put a heavy towel or a piece of carpet under it. This will reduce the boominess.
Set up was extremely easy...I didn't even need to open the manual.
Now here's the fun part: after hooking up the wires and picking a location for the sub (preferably a corner of the room) turn it on and be impressed. The unit worked right out of the box and it sounds amazing. The bass was tight and at half volume I could feel the bass while not over powering the rest of the sound.
